This project was part of my university studies. The task was to design a concert poster for a fictional upcoming band called Blue Box. We had a creative freedom, but the poster had to include the iconic statue of Michelangelo’s David, the band’s name, a sponsor, and the date and location of the concert.
This poster blends classical and modern aesthetics in a bold, high-contrast design that evokes both nostalgia and contemporary energy. Set in a black, white, and blue palette, it pairs statue of David with a grainy photo of a modern dancer, creating striking tension between tradition and movement.
Typography drives the rhythm: “ABRACADABRA” is split into syllables and stacked vertically, while having different number of letters on each row. A mix of serif and sans-serif fonts adds hierarchy and contrast.
Abstract textures and layered visuals—like a topographic background and a 3D wireframe cube labeled “BLUE BOX”—suggest themes of introspection, identity, and technology. Phrases like “Dance or Die” and “I was born to create” hint at a deeper artistic narrative.
More than a show, the poster presents the event as a transformative experience—part performance, part creative statement.
I decided that the Prague concert banner would be part of the band’s world tour titled Abracadabra—a reference to Lady Gaga’s single, which I’m a fan of. The Gaga reference also shows up in the “Dance or Die” quote, reinforced by the dancing figure stepping out of the frame. There’s also a barcode on the poster that, when scanned, links directly to the Abracadabra music video on YouTube. The overall design was inspired by Wave Index. There’s an additional reference to Jann and the lyrics from his track Arachnophobia.
