As part of my university coursework in graphic design, I was assigned the task of developing a social media post concept, specifically focusing on adapting the visual composition to various aspect ratios. The primary objective of this exercise was to practice the placement of each elements such as the headline, subheadline, call-to-action (CTA), and supplementary informational components.
For the purpose of this assignment, I conceptualized a fictional social media campaign promoting a documentary series centered around personal stories from individuals who experienced and shared their testimonies from the period of the Second World War. The idea was to evoke emotional resonance and historical awareness through a powerful narrative and visual composition.
The central headline of the campaign is written in Czech: „Zaměřeno na příběh“, which translates to „Focused on the Story“ in English. Accompanying this is a subheadline: „Jde o hlas těch, kteří byli umlčeni“, meaning „It’s about the voices which were silenced„. These texts are deliberately placed to create an emotional anchor, guiding the viewer toward the core message of the documentary.
The call-to-action, positioned prominently within the composition, encourages viewers to engage further by watching the full video documentary.
Additional contextual elements are placed along the edges of each banner to provide supporting information. These include the name of the fictional documentary series, „Lidé v bezpráví“, which translates to „People in Injustice„. The banners also display the historical timeframe covered by the series, 1938–1945, and the name of the fictional non-profit organization behind the project, „Generace Naděje“, meaning „Generation of Hope„.
Each banner also incorporates a visual motif in the form of a subtle frame, symbolizing the viewfinder of a camera. This design choice metaphorically represents the act of documenting, framing, and focusing on the individual stories that were once hidden or suppressed.
The project emphasizes the power of visual storytelling in digital media and demonstrates how thoughtful composition and narrative can be adapted across multiple formats while maintaining coherence and emotional impact. To visualize the concept, a mockup was used to present the design in a realistic social media context.
